REASONS TO BELIEVE

It is impossible to get to know and understand God without Him choosing to reveal Himself to us. Humanity has always wondered about the nature and character of God. Truly, His character is very important. This is because His character shapes His perspective and thoughts on us humans. God's character can be one of anger, cruelty, and brutality, or conversely, one of love, mercy, and compassion. The answers to the questions about God's character can only be found in God's revelations about Himself: the Holy Bible.

To determine the accuracy of these revelations of God, they must be put under historical analysis first. In essence, the key criterium is whether what has been foretold in God's word has really come to pass. Jesus Christ comes to the world in a small village in Israel about 2,000 years before our time; this coming of the Messiah, in turn, was foretold by prophets about 3,400 years earlier. Even today, the birth of Jesus is still celebrated globally. His birth has divided history itself into two, and had a profound impact in the past and continues to do so today. Jesus' way of teaching was in no way like those of the other prophets and teachers of religion. Matthew 7:28-29 states, ''When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.''

Jesus Christ stated He was the Son of God

Jesus Christ made some very shocking claims about His persona. More than a teacher or a prophet, He clearly stated his deity as God. The number of people who accepted these claims did not diminish or decrease; on the contrary, they increased. '' 'But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?' Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.' '' (Matthew 16:15-16)

''For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.'' (John 5:18)

"I and the Father are One." (John 10:30) resulted in the Jews trying to stone Jesus.

Jesus Christ clearly claimed to have all the Qualifications needed to be God

Matthew 9:1-3: ''Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, 'Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.' At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, 'This fellow is blaspheming.' ''

Mark 14:61-64: "But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, 'Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?' 'I am,' said Jesus. 'And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.' The high priest tore his clothes. 'Why do we need any more witnesses?' he asked. 'You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?' ''

Jesus has declared His relationship with God

John 8:19: "Then they asked him, 'Where is your father?' 'You do not know me or my Father,' Jesus replied. 'If you knew me, you would know my Father also.' ''

John 14:7: '"If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."' John 12:45: '"The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me."' John 14:9: ''Jesus answered: 'Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father.''' John 12:44: "Then Jesus cried out, 'Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.'" John 14:1: ''Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me." John 15:23: "Whoever hates me hates my Father as well." Mark 9:37: "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."
